We’re Arizona’s leader in true quality water, smoke and fire restoration

RAVE FabriCARE is Arizona’s leader in the restoration of fine garments, household textiles and accessories that have been contaminated or damaged by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity.

It’s a reputation that’s been built over a period of 35 years.

Our trademarked slogan, “extraordinary care for fine garments, household textiles and accessories”, exemplifies our commitment to and single-minded focus on true quality care.

We serve the high-end market and high value homeowners exclusively

For over 35 years, RAVE FabriCARE has specialized in bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

The rationale for the decision to serve the high end of the market was simple: a business cannot succeed by striving to be all things to all people or else you’ll end up being nothing to anyone.

By way of analogy, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and Kohl’s all serve distinctly different markets.

Why?

Because they know they can’t possibly serve all three markets at the same time.

Yet, ordinary restoration dry cleaners (and ordinary dry cleaners) still labor under the illusion that it’s possible to serve every market segment simultaneously. That they can do this using the exact same personnel, procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities. And that they can do this with the exact same pricing structure.

And the result?

All garments, household textiles and accessories are treated equally and interchangeably – with complete disregard to brand and/or original cost: a suit is a suit is a suit; a a shirt is a shirt is a shirt, a duvet cover is a duvet cover is a duvet cover; a handbag is a handbag is a handbag.

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners wouldn’t know – and don’t care to know – the difference between Attolini and Abercrombie, between Lagerfeld and Land’s End, between Oxxford and Old Navy, between Kabbaz and Klein, between Duxiana and Divatex, or between Hermes and Hilfiger.

They probably think Attolini is an Italian pasta, Kabbaz is an Eastern European sausage, Oxxford is a community college, Lagerfeld is a new micro beer, Duxiana is a reality television show featuring four brothers with long beards, and Hermes is a contagious social disease.

Our decision – over 35 years ago – to specialize in bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories has nurtured a technical capability that’s unmatched by any restoration dry cleaner (or ordinary dry cleaner) in Arizona and very few in the USA.

For your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories, you need a true quality restoration dry cleaner you can trust.

Numerous upscale department stores, clothing boutiques, custom clothiers, bridal salons, fine linen stores, and handbag and shoe salons in the Valley and elsewhere trust RAVE FabriCARE:

  • to restore inventory that has become soiled,
  • to restore client garments that have been improperly “processed” or “ruined” by ordinary dry cleaners, and
  • to clean client garments that ordinary cleaners reject as “uncleanable” or “unserviceable”.

These knowledgeable, upscale retailers and custom clothiers trust RAVE FabriCARE.

You can too.

Insurance companies served

At RAVE FabriCARE, we understand that our Smoke, Fire and Water Restoration Services division will probably be limited to high value homeowners with a relatively significant investment in their bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, shoes and other accessories.

Even though RAVE FabriCARE specializes in bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories, this doesn’t mean that we don’t handle garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories that are more modest in value.

We do.

But we do it with the same care and attention we devote to your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

In other words, our restoration clients typically select RAVE FabriCARE under two circumstances:

  • where the replacement value of their garments, household textiles and accessories is high
  • where the replacement value of their garments, household textiles and accessories is more modest, but where the client, nonetheless, insists that those items be restored to pristine condition.

So even if your insurance company is not necessarily recognized for their focus on serving the high value homeowner insurance market, we’d be honored if you were to independently select RAVE FabriCARE as your true quality restoration dry cleaner.

We work with you and your insurance company

Over the years, we’ve worked with many different insurance companies, insurance agencies and insurance adjusters. So we’re familiar with the claims settlement process.

Specifically, here’s how we can help you:

  • Document the interior and exterior disaster area(s)
  • Create a complete, digital photo library of all your disaster-impacted garments, household textiles and accessories (by room, by brand, by color, by size, etc.) prior to those garments, household textiles and accessories being removed from your home for possible restoration.
  • Act as a liaison between you and your insurance company, insurance agent or insurance adjuster, thereby relieving you of the stress typically associated with the claims settlement process.
  • Assist you with any insurance paperwork related to your garments, household textiles and accessories.
  • Help you resolve any unsalvageable losses speedily and with fewer complications.
  • Bill your insurance company directly for all services rendered (see Direct Billing).

Unlike many restoration contractors and ordinary restoration dry cleaners, RAVE FabriCARE does not deal exclusively with one insurance company. Or only a few insurance companies. Nor do we invest time and resources developing “personal relationships” with one or more insurance adjusters.

Why?

Simply because we don’t want to be beholden to one or a few insurance companies or one or a few insurance adjusters. And we don’t want to deal with the conflicts of interests that will inevitably arise.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we work FOR you.

But WITH your insurance company, insurance agent or insurance adjuster.

Do you have wearable collections insurance coverage?

If your home has been contaminated by water, mold, mildew and/or humidity as a result of a flood and you have specialized insurance for your designer, bespoke and couture garments known as wearable collections coverage, you should definitely contact RAVE FabriCARE.

What is wearable collections coverage?

Like fine art, cars and jewelry, an extensive designer, bespoke and couture wardrobe poses a particular financial risk to the high value homeowner. That’s because insurance companies typically consider apparel to be “household contents” and, as such, are subject to a host of policy limits and exclusions.

Wearable collections coverage covers your high-valued, high-end designer, bespoke and couture garments and accessories that are typically not covered (not insured) or under covered (under insured) by a typical homeowners policy.

In other words, wearable collections coverage bridges the gap between the limited values assigned to your designer, bespoke and couture wardrobe by your homeowners policy and the true replacement value of your designer, bespoke and couture wardrobe.

While your homeowners policy may cover your designer, bespoke and couture garments and accessories in the event of fire or theft (up to a specified per item dollar limit and total dollar limit), such policies typically exclude damage caused by water, mold, mildew and/or humidity.

By contrast, the typical wearable collections coverage covers designer, bespoke and couture garments, accessories such as handbags and shoes, and vintage and historic clothing damaged by water, mold, mildew and/or humidity. Even moth damage.

The typical wearable collections coverage also covers the cleaning and/or restoration of those items by a high-end garment and accessory care specialist such as RAVE FabriCARE.

Our process – in a nutshell

Process diagram

It’s your choice. Choose your restoration dry cleaner wisely.

Over the years, you’ve invested countless hours and resources selecting, tailoring and caring for your fine garments, household textiles and accessories, including handbags and footwear. They reflect your taste, personality and lifestyle.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we understand that you want your life to return to normal as fast as possible.

And that you want your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories back – restored to as close to pre-disaster condition as possible.

With this in mind, it’s important to remember this: your insurance policy does NOT require you to choose or accept the cheapest, fastest and/or least qualified restoration dry cleaner.

Your insurance policy does NOT require you to choose or accept the cheapest, fastest and/or least qualified restoration dry cleaner.

And your insurance policy does NOT require you to choose or accept the restoration dry cleaner “recommended” or “suggested” by your insurance company, insurance agency or insurance adjuster – a restoration dry cleaner who, in all probability, is no more than an ordinary dry cleaner with a restoration franchise logo (such as CRDN, FRSTeam or NARD), a pricing software package called Xactimate, an ozone room and some storage space.

Your insurance policy does NOT require you to choose or accept the restoration dry cleaner “recommended” or “suggested” by your insurance company, insurance agency or insurance adjuster.

Let’s be blunt: Most insurance companies, insurance agents and insurance adjusters have a vested interest in steering you to the cheapest and/or fastest restoration dry cleaner offering work that can best be described as marginal.

In other words, these insurance companies, agencies and adjusters are often far more interested in protecting their financial interests than they are in restoring your fine garments, household textiles and accessories to their pre-disaster condition. Or even to original or near-original condition.

Any objective observer would call that a conflict of interest.

Furthermore, please remember that your insurance adjuster works for and is paid by your insurance company. Insurance companies are profit-making businesses and their employees are not social workers. Your insurance adjuster might be friendly, but your adjuster is not your friend.

That being the case, here’s what you need to know: YOU’RE FREE TO CHOOSE the restoration dry cleaner you want to work on your fine garments, household textiles and accessories.

You’re free to choose the restoration dry cleaner you  want to work on your  fine garments, household textiles and accessories.

And why should you make that choice and not the insurance company, agency or adjuster?

Because you paid the insurance premium.

And because the quality of your insurance coverage depends, not only on the specific wording of your policy, but, more importantly, on the quality of the companies you retain to carry out the numerous tasks associated with restoring your home and it’s contents – including your fine garments, household textiles and accessories.

Restoration cleaners with a “couture division” specializing in “high-end losses.” Really?

You should know that there are a few ordinary restoration dry cleaners in the Valley who claim to have a “couture division” that “specializes in high end losses”.

Before you entrust your fine garments, household textiles and accessories to any of these “couture” restoration dry cleaners, however, we suggest that you:

  • Visit their facilities and tour of their operations.
  • Look around.
  • Survey their physical plant and equipment.
  • Question them about their odor remediation, cleaning, finishing, inspecting and packaging processes.
  • Observe their “cleaners” and “pressers” in action.
  • Identify the degree to which you see any bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories in the facility.
  • Examine the quality of the work they produce (if you are presented with “showcased” examples of their work, ignore those examples and make your own random selection).

Then pay a visit RAVE FabriCARE and compare. We think you’d find the difference illuminating.

Why go through this exercise?

Because we believe that these so-called “couture divisions” that “specialize in high end losses” are, in fact, no more than storage facilities.

Other than some clothing racks, there’s nothing there. There’s no client service area. No plant and equipment. No cleaning, hand ironing, inspection and packaging craftspeople. No identifiable company pickup and delivery vehicles.

Everything appears to be SUBCONTRACTED TO UNKNOWN, UNDISCLOSED THIRD PARTIES.

What they do have, of course, are a good looking websites, replete with blue sky backgrounds, before and after photographs and fanciful descriptions of the “couture” work they produce.

Fact is, it’s all smoke (and mirrors).

The claim by ordinary restoration dry cleaners in Arizona that they have a “couture division” that specializes in “high-end losses” is just smoke (and mirrors).

For your designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories, you need a true quality restoration dry cleaner you can trust.

And you can trust RAVE FabriCARE, the dry cleaner trusted by more upscale department stores, clothing boutiques, custom clothiers, bridal salons, fine linen stores, and handbag and shoe salons in the Valley and elsewhere than all other dry cleaners and restoration dry cleaners combined.

We’re restoration dry cleaners. Not restoration contractors.

In the event of a fire- or water-related disaster, your insurance company, insurance agency or insurance adjuster will probably recommend that you retain the services of a restoration contractor to clean and restore, or where necessary, replace all or part of your home’s structure and contents.

A quick search on the internet will tell you that most restoration contractors bill themselves as a one-stop-shop.

Specifically, they’ll tell you that they can:

  • Provide emergency fencing, board-up and roof coverings.
  • Provide packing, move-out and storage services.
  • Extract any water and then dry, dehumidify, disinfect and deodorize the structure.
  • Remove debris.
  • Clean HVAC systems and related ductwork.
  • Clean and restore and, where necessary, replace roofs, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, carpeting, floors, light fixtures, appliances, electronic equipment, cabinets, millwork, furniture, etc.

They’ll also tell you that they can “handle the cleaning of all your garments, household textiles and accessories”.

Pressed for details, they’ll reluctantly admit that they know absolutely NOTHING about the cleaning and restoration of regular garments, household textiles or accessories.

And that they know even LESS about the cleaning and restoration of designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

But don’t despair, they’ll tell you, “we work with someone who can clean them for you.”

They may tell you the name of the subcontractor.

But what they won’t tell you – and can’t tell you – is that subcontractor’s qualifications and experience cleaning and restoring bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories on a daily basis.

Here’s an example from a restoration contractor’s website:

“The professionals at XYZ Restoration are fully prepared to handle your entire claim from beginning to completion. That includes 24 hour emergency service (water extraction, board up, structural drying, etc.), inventorying and cleaning your personal property, restoration dry cleaning for your salvageable linens, clothing, drapery and window treatments, fine rug cleaning and restoration, mold abatement, bio-hazard cleaning, odor elimination and complete property reconstruction.”

Really?

At RAVE FabriCARE, we’ll freely admit that

  • we don’t have a general contractor’s license.
  • we don’t have any plumbers, electricians, brick masons, carpenters, plasterers, roofers or any other building trade specialists on our staff, nor do we know any subcontractors specializing in such work.
  • we don’t own any equipment such as portable water extraction units, heaters, air movers, dehumidifiers, pressure washers, remote lighting units and wall-to-wall carpet cleaning units, nor do we know where to rent such equipment.

Fact is, we know absolutely nothing about the reconstruction or restoration of a fire or water damaged home. Nor do we care to know. That’s not our field of expertise. We leave all that to the restoration contractor.

But here’s what we do know:

When it comes to cleaning and restoring your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories, NO restoration contractor or ordinary restoration dry cleaner in Arizona comes close to matching our skills, expertise and experience as well as our procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities.

And the resultant quality of our work.

The only question that remains is this: To whom are you going to entrust the cleaning and restoration of your fine garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories?

A true quality restoration dry cleaner recognized as one of the nation’s premier cleaners, or some unknown dry cleaner “recommended” or “selected” by your insurance adjuster or restoration contractor?

Compromise elsewhere.

General restoration experience

For over 35 years, RAVE FabriCARE has been restoring bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories for individuals, museums, historical societies, collectors and theatrical companies as well as upscale department stores, clothing boutiques, custom clothiers, bridal salons, fine linen stores, handbag and shoe salons, and individual clients.

When it comes to fine garments and household textiles contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew, humidity, and other odors, we’ve restored garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories that have been damaged or compromised by:

  • Smoke from an external brush fire that penetrated a home through the air conditioning system
  • Smoke from a localized, internal fire
  • Soot dispersed through the duct work of the air conditioning system
  • Soot from a malfunctioning fireplace flue
  • Water from the accidental activation of a fire sprinklerWater from a burst floor-, wall- and ceiling-embedded water pipe
  • Water from a burst hose connecting the incoming water to an appliance
  • Water from a roof leak
  • Water that flowed into a home under the external doors as a result of a flash desert thunderstorm that accumulated large pools of water in the immediate area around the home
  • Dank, musty, noxious odors induced by high humidity resulting from a water-related disaster.

High value restoration experience

RAVE FabriCARE is a high-end dry cleaner specializing in bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

Fact is, RAVE FabriCARE is the ONLY restoration dry cleaner in Arizona specializing in bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

That identity is reinforced by the fact that we serve more high-end department stores, clothing boutiques, custom tailors, bridal salons, fine linen stores, and handbag and shoe salons in the Valley and elsewhere than all other Valley dry cleaners and restoration dry cleaners combined.

The overwhelming majority of our clients are high value homeowners with a significant investment in their garments, household textiles and accessories.

For over 35 years, these homeowners have trusted RAVE FabriCARE to maintain their fine garments, household textiles and accessories in pristine condition.

There are a number of so-called “restoration dry cleaners” in the Valley.

These ordinary restoration dry cleaners are perfectly suited – in terms of their skills, expertise and experience – to serve the vast middle market.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we don’t specifically target this vast middle market.

The skills, expertise, experience, procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities that we have developed over 35 years are distinctly different from that available at ordinary dry cleaners or at ordinary restoration dry cleaners and are geared solely to caring for bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

Modest value restoration experience

As discussed above, the skills, expertise, experience, procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities that we have developed over 35 years are distinctly different from that available at ordinary dry cleaners or at ordinary restoration dry cleaners.

We do.

We also serve homeowners with garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories that are more modest in value.

Disaster site documentation experience

RAVE FabriCARE is the ONLY restoration dry cleaner in Arizona licensed to use GRATIIS, the industry’s most sophisticated restoration management system.

Amongst many other features, GRATIIS enables us to provide you and your insurance adjuster with

  • a disaster site survey report including disaster-related information, exterior home photographs, interior room by room photographs and source of damage photographs — prior to leaving your home,
  • a photographic inventory report (organized by room) of every garment, household textile and accessory removed from your home for possible restorationprior to leaving your home.

Every RAVE FabriCARE restoration client receives the disaster site survey report, photographic inventory report and virtual closet at no charge.

It’s part of our white glove service.

Many of our restoration clients have found these documentation services to be invaluable:

  • when negotiating settlements with insurance companies and adjuster
  • when challenging the quality of the work delivered by ordinary restoration dry cleaners.

Restoration dry cleaner deficiency correction experience

Most restoration dry cleaners do try.

Some have the skills, expertise, experience, procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities necessary to restore your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories to the very best condition possible.

Others not so much.

If you’re dissatisfied with the quality of the work delivered by your restoration dry cleaner, contact your insurance adjuster. Tell him or her that you’re calling in RAVE FabriCARE for a second opinion.

There’s no obligation.

In all probability, we can fix your ordinary restoration dry cleaner’s deficiencies.

Beyond pre-disaster condition

For any true quality restoration dry cleaner, restoring your designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments garments, household textiles and accessories to pre-disaster condition should be the minimum objective.

Most ordinary restoration dry cleaners strive to impress you with their service and their conveniences, and with their fast turnaround and competitive pricing.

By contrast, RAVE FabriCARE strives to impress you with the quality of our product – restoring your fine garments, household textiles and accessories to as close to pre-disaster condition as possible. Or even original or near-original condition.

At RAVE FabriCARE, quality of product has been our driving passion and singular focus for over 35 years.

Lets’ be blunt here: Any restoration dry cleaner can “produce” a garment or household textile quickly and cheaply. And then deliver your garments and household textiles with a broad smile.

But delivering a bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garment or household textile that’s gently cleaned and meticulously hand ironed to the dry cleaning industry’s highest standards and that meets your high standards is very different.

That takes the right combination of skills, expertise and experience as well as procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities – an institutional capability that takes decades to build.

By way of analogy, Dennys can “produce” a steak and Kia can “produce” a car. But for most high value homeowners, Dennys and Kia probably doesn’t meet their definition of true quality.

As we always tell our clients who have a significant investment in their garments, household textiles and accessories:

Ordinary dry cleaners and ordinary restoration dry cleaners love to talk about the quality of their service and the quality of their conveniences but almost never talk about the quality of their delivered product. The only problem with this is that a high quality of service and a high quality of conveniences coupled with a poor to mediocre quality of product is about as worthless as a trap door in a life boat.

Recovery rate

92%. 94%. 96%. 97%. 98%.

These are some of the statistics quoted by restoration dry cleaners as the percentage of garments, household textiles and accessories they claim to “successfully restore” after contamination by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity.

But as that great philosopher, Homer Simpson, once said: 95% of all statistics are made up on the spot and 14.3% of people know that.

When it comes to “Recovery Rate” statistics, it appears that most of these statistics have been made up. Or at, the very least, manipulated.

Why do we say that?

Because the Recovery Rate percentage depends on the exact nature of the fire and water damage, on the way you count the “successful garments” and  on the way you count “items contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity”.

For example……

What was the nature of the water damage? Did it involve relatively clean water only, gray water only, black water only or any combination thereof? What was the nature of the fire? Did it involve proteins, soot, grease, plastic, etc.? Did it involve invisible smoke odor only or both invisible smoke odor and visible soot?

What are the standards for measuring “successful” garments, household textiles and accessories? And whose standards are those anyway? The restoration dry cleaner’s standards? The insurance adjuster’s standards? Or your standards?

What items were included in “items contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity”. Only the items that the restoration dry cleaner believed were easy pickings for restoration “success” or all the contaminated garments, household textiles and accessories in the residence?

Let’s be blunt: You don’t have to be a math wiz to figure out that “recovery rate statistics” can be easily manipulated to produce any desired result. Or they can just be made up on the spot.

Whichever way you look at it, the use of “recovery rates” as a marketing tool is both deceptive and meaningless.

Savings: Restoration vs. replacement

There are basically 3 types of insurance coverage that’ll cover the contents of your home, including your high-end garments, household textiles and accessories:

Actual cash value coverage

This policy pays the actual cash value or worth of your garments, household textiles and accessories just before the disaster. Typically, this will be today’s replacement cost less depreciation or wear and tear from the date of purchase to the date of the disaster.

For example, it’s possible that those 5 year old custom-made drapes hanging in your living room may have an actual cash value of zero for insurance purposes.

Full replacement cost coverage

This policy pays to replace your garments, household textiles and accessories at today’s cost without any deduction for depreciation, up to the maximum per item limit and/or total dollar limit specified in your policy.

Guaranteed replacement cost coverage

This policy pays to replace your garments household textiles and accessories at today’s cost, without any deduction for depreciation, even if the total damage exceeds the maximum per item limit dollar limit and/or total dollar limit specified in your policy.

It’s highly unlikely that any high value homeowner policies will be written on an actual cash value basis. On the other end of the spectrum, not many high value homeowner’s insurance policies are written on a guaranteed replacement cost basis.

Most high value homeowner insurance policies fall into the middle category – policies written on a full replacement cost basis.

As such, a restoration dry cleaner’s ability to restore designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories to pre-disaster condition is critical to minimizing losses and conserving policy limits.

The higher the quality of the restoration, the greater the pool of dollars available for other critical restoration functions.

RAVE FabriCARE has the skills, expertise, experience, procedures, processes, technologies, equipment and facilities necessary to minimize such losses and conserve such policy limits.

Considering that, on average, the restoration cleaning costs of high-end garments, household textiles and accessories is only about 5% to 10% of replacement cost, it’s clear that a skilled restoration of expensive garments, household textiles and accessories can result in significant savings for both the insurance company and the homeowner.

Pricing – What you need to know about our pricing model

At RAVE FabriCARE, all garments, household textiles and accessories are invoiced at

  • our normal prices plus a 50% surcharge (homeowner garments, household textiles and accessories), or
  • our normal prices plus a 100% surcharge (retail store inventory).

This surcharge covers all aspects of odor remediation and the additional labor associated with contamination by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew, humidity and/or other contaminants.

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we do not price using the Xactimate pricing model (see next section for for further details).

When your insurance company, agency or adjuster “recommends” or “suggests” an ordinary restoration dry cleaner to you, there are some important facts you need to understand before agreeing to entrust your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories to that cleaner:

Insurance companies have a conflict of interest

Insurance companies are profit making institutions with a vested interest in enhancing in their bottom line.

In many cases, this places the insurance company in a conflict of interest position vis-a-viz the high value homeowner.

Insurance adjusters have a conflict of interest

It’s been our experience that most insurance adjusters

  • have a rather limited knowledge of the value of a high value homeowner’s wardrobe consisting of bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments and accessories.
  • have a rather limited knowledge of the technical skills required to restore a wardrobe consisting of bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments and accessories.

Insurance adjusters want to “restore” your loss at the lowest possible cost to their employer, the insurance company.

This places insurance adjusters in a conflict of interest position vis-a-viz the high value homeowner.

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners have a conflict of interest

Insurance adjusters typically “recommend” or “suggest” a restoration dry cleaners who they believe will assist them in the performance of their duties.

And that duty is too close the homeowner’s file at the lowest possible cost to their employer, the insurance company.

Restoration dry cleaners know that insurance adjusters want them to deliver their “product” at the lowest possible cost. They also know that they need to “build a relationship” with insurance adjusters in order to guarantee a continuous flow of work in the future.

This places the restoration dry cleaner in a conflict of interest position vis-a-viz the high value homeowner.

Summary

The critical question is this: Who is the client?

The insured or the insurance adjuster?

At RAVE FabriCARE, the client is the insured.

At an ordinary restoration cleaner, the insurance adjuster is the client.

Need proof?

One ordinary restoration dry cleaner’s website boasts:

“We use Xactimate software to keep the most competitive prices as possible, keeping the adjusters happy.”

Another is even more direct:

“Our insurance adjuster clients require direct billing via Xactimate”.

There’s no doubt that ordinary restoration dry cleaners regard the insurance adjusters as their clients. Not the insured.

Pricing – What you need to know about the Xactimate pricing model

Low-ball Xactimate pricing means low quality work products

Almost every ordinary restoration dry cleaner charges the standard prices listed in a computer software system called Xactimate.

Xactimate pricing is based on the AVERAGE prices charged by the AVERAGE restoration dry cleaner on the AVERAGE contents (garments, household textiles and accessories) of the AVERAGE home in a specific geographical area of the country.

Because the Xactimate prices are so low – only slightly higher than the retail prices charged by ordinary dry cleaners – they are generally accepted by insurance companies and their adjusters without questioning.

Ordinary dry cleaners in Maricopa County, Arizona charge an average of $15 retail for a mens or ladies two piece suit. This means that the Xactimate price for a mens or ladies two piece suit is probably about $17.50 to $20.

By contrast, a true quality cleaner would charge about $75 retail for an off-the-rack mens or ladies two piece suit and at least $100 to $125 retail for restoring that mens or ladies suit.

When the restoration dry cleaner is only charging t.he insurance company $20.00 to restore your $2,000, $4,000 or $6,000 suit, you’ll soon realize that the restoration dry cleaner “recommended” or “suggested” by your insurance company, agency or adjuster is anything but a true quality cleaner.

The dry cleaning industry has names for such cleaners: “bang and hang cleaners”, “tumble and fumble cleaners”, “clean and steam cleaners”, or “boil, bleach and bake cleaners”.

Let’s be blunt: It’s not possible for an ordinary restoration dry cleaner to restore your fine garments, household textiles and accessories to the highest industry standards and still remain in business by charging Xactimate prices.

Stated another way, the only way an ordinary restoration dry cleaner can stay in business using Xactimate prices is to make compromises and take short cuts.

In effect, they’re experimenting on your fine garments, household textiles and accessories and hoping that these compromises and short cuts result in a marginally acceptable end product.

Bottom line…

If the value of your garments, household textiles and accessories is relatively modest and if you’re not particularly concerned about the relative quality of the product returned to you, then you should choose an ordinary restoration dry cleaner who uses Xactimate pricing.

Low-ball Xactimate pricing means low settlement offers

Insurance adjusters typically insist on the use of Xactimate for two reasons:

  • restoration dry cleaners can generate cleaning cost estimates relatively quickly and
  • adjusters can formulate your claim settlement offer relatively quickly.

Xactimate estimates look impressive because they are well organized, professional looking and lengthy.

But the Xactimate pricing model is way too low and way too generic to be used when restoring bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear and other accessories.

If an insurance adjuster insists on using the Xactimate pricing model as a basis for formulating a settlement offer for a high value homeowner, that settlement offer will certainly be inadequate and probably leave you short of what you are entitled to under your policy.

Pricing – What you don’t pay for

There are some aspects of our approach to pricing that does not involve cost:

  • We do not charge for disaster site (interior and exterior) survey reports.
  • We do not charge for inventory reports.
  • We do not charge a pack out fee to remove your garments, household textiles and accessories from your home.
  • We do not charge for pick up and delivery trips within a 30 mile drive from our Scottsdale facility.
  • We do not charge a “rush” fee to priority items needed within the first 24 to 48 hours.
  • We do not charge a storage fee for items stored by us for a period of 90 days from the date of pack out.
  • We do not charge for boxes and/or packaging (unless the items are being shipped).
  • We do not charge a 3% to 7% “environmental fee, surcharge or tax” on every invoice (this is nothing more than a scam designed to generate additional revenue as there is no state-mandated “environmental fee, surcharge or tax” in Arizona).
  • We do not charge for underwear.
  • We do not charge for garments, household textiles and accessories that, despite our best efforts, cannot be restored to pre-disaster condition.
  • We do not charge for laboratory analysis reports, if required.
  • We do not charge for any dispute resolution services, if required.

Non-economically viable restoration projects

RAVE FabriCARE is committed to serving our clients by providing the highest quality of restoration services in Arizona.

As such, we expect every project to be economically viable.

Stated another way, RAVE FabriCARE will not undertake disaster restoration projects that are not economically viable.

Here’s a common example of a situation that might red flag a possible disaster restoration project as not economically viable...

An insurance adjuster convinces a high value homeowner to consign their garments, household textiles and accessories for restoration to his "preferred" restoration dry cleaner.

That ordinary restoration dry cleaner cherry picks their way through the contents of an insured’s home.

The ordinary restoration dry cleaner removes all garments, household textiles and accessories that they believe are relatively easy to restore to minimally acceptable standards.

The insurance adjuster then invites RAVE FabriCARE to pick up all those items that the ordinary restoration dry cleaner has refused to accept and/or has declared “non-salvageable”. Typically, these are garments, household textiles and accessories that might require special skills and extensive hand labor and that have a probability of restoration success that’s 50:50.

Because we do not bill your insurance company for any items that cannot be successfully restored to pre-disaster condition, the likelihood that we’ll be able to recover all of our investment of skills, time and other resources restoring these “orphaned” items will probably be zero.

Now you know why RAVE FabriCARE will not respond to disaster restoration situations that are not economically viable.

In summary

If you believe that your insurance adjuster’s favorite local restoration dry cleaner has the skills, expertise and experience to complete the entire project to the dry cleaning industry’s highest quality standards and to your highest quality standards, you should follow the advice of your insurance adjuster and contract with that restoration dry cleaner.

If, on the other hand, you believe that the restoration of your fine garments, household textiles and accessories requires specialized skills, expertise, experience, procedures, processes, technologies and equipment that your insurance adjuster’s "preferred" local restoration dry cleaner is unlikely to have, you should call RAVE FabriCARE.

Bottom line

If we believe that a restoration project has been cherry picked by another restoration dry cleaner and, as a direct result, is unlikely to be economically viable, we will respectfully decline the project.

If you’re currently facing a situation similar to the one described above, please don’t blame RAVE FabriCARE.

Contact your insurance adjuster and his or her direct supervisor instead.

No commissions, rebates or other compensation paid

A number of ordinary restoration dry cleaners sustain their businesses by paying commissions and “other compensation” – in cash and/or in kind – on restoration business referred to them.

Without disclosing that fact to the insureds.

That’s like your financial advisor recommending a particular financial strategy or financial instrument without disclosing the fact that he is being paid a commission or receiving other compensation for “pushing” that strategy or financial instrument.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we do not pay any commissions and other compensation of any kind to any party for any restoration business referred to us.

This policy applies to all referrals from insurance companies, insurance agents and insurance adjusters, restoration contractors, property owners, property management companies, real estate agents, and the like.

Why don’t we pay such compensation?

First, it’s highly unethical.

Second, ordinary restoration dry cleaners that pay commissions and other compensation have only two ways to recoup the cost of such compensation:

  • compromise their work even further by taking even more shortcuts than they normally do, and/or
  • compromise your policy’s dollar limits by inflating their billings to the insurance company and, ultimately, to you.

Whichever way you cut it, you’re paying a price in the form of lower quality and/or greater out-of-pocket expenses.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we won’t compromise our quality standards or our integrity by paying any type of commission or other compensation.

It’s best for us – we can focus on delivering “best of class” work products.

It’s best for your insurance company, agency and adjuster – they avoid any conflict of interest.

It’s best for your restoration contractor – they avoid any conflict of interest.

And it’s best for you, the insured – you can make an educated choice as to which restoration dry cleaner best fits your needs without the pressure that comes with some insurance adjuster’s or restoration contractor’s hidden agenda. And the quality of our work and your policy’s dollar loss limits are not compromised.

We don’t use subcontractors

At RAVE FabriCARE, all our work is performed in-house in our 11,000 square foot facility by skilled craftspeople who routinely produce some of the most respected cleaning services in the nation. This work includes hang drying, odor remediation, dry cleaning, wet cleaning and hand cleaning, hand finishing, inspection, packaging and storage.

At RAVE FabriCARE, your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories never leave our facility.

This in-house work also includes fine suede and leather garments and fine accessories such as handbags, purses, backpacks, wallets, shoes, boots, sneakers and belts – items that ordinary dry cleaners and ordinary restoration dry cleaners typically reject as “uncleanable” or consign to some undisclosed, out-of-state subcontractor you’ve never heard of.

Fact is, we’re the ONLY restoration dry cleaner in Arizona with our own full-time, in-house artisans who are responsible for cleaning, reconditioning and color refinishing all your fine suede and leather garments and accessories such as handbags, purses, backpacks, wallets, shoes, boots, sneakers and belts.

We can handle everything from your Cucinelli mint suede dress to your Armani black leather jacket. From your Hermes white leather handbag to your Gucci GG fabric wallet. From your Chanel maroon suede boots to your Rick Owens brown iguana sneakers.

At RAVE FabriCARE, all your fine garments, household textiles and accessories remain under our control and supervision – from the moment of pickup to the moment of delivery.

Our restoration technologies and processes

RAVE FabriCARE’s Smoke, Fire, Water Restoration Services division was created to apply our technical fabricare knowledge, stain removal skills, fabric-gentle cleaning processes, hand finishing craftsmanship and thorough inspections to fine garments, household textiles and accessories that have been contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew, humidity and other odors.

This division is a natural extension of our core business – caring for bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles, handbags, footwear, belts and other accessories – and was developed with the high value homeowner in mind.

Almost every ordinary restoration dry cleaner takes a standard approach to the treatment of garments, household textiles and accessories that have been contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity:

  • dry cleaning or wet cleaning, with or without prior ozone treatment, for garments and household textiles, and
  • who-knows-what-by-who-knows-whom cleaning, with or without prior ozone treatment, for accessories.

What you should know about the use of ozone by ordinary restoration dry cleaners

Putting aside the health issues associated with ozone for one moment, it’s important to recognize three issues associated with the exclusive use of ozone:

  • Ozone is only one of many remediation tools that should be in a restoration dry cleaner’s arsenal of fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity mitigation tools. Ozone should never be the only tool in that toolbox.
  • Because the composition of garments, household textiles and accessories may vary from one item to another, ozone should never be indiscriminately applied to every garment, household textile or accessory.
  • Used indiscriminately, ozone can severely damage some garments, household textiles and accessories.

What you should know about the use of dry cleaning processes by ordinary restoration dry cleaners

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners employ dry cleaning processes that use relatively aggressive solvents such as perchloroethylene (brand name: Dowper), synthetic petroleum (brand name: DF 2000 or EcoSolv) and formaldehyde dibutyl acetal (brand name: Solvon or K4).

At RAVE FabriCARE, we dry clean in fabric-gentle, dermatologically-gentle siloxane. Exclusively.

What you should know about the use of wet cleaning processes by ordinary restoration dry cleaners

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners use wet cleaning processes that use relatively aggressive hot water, harsh, caustic, industrial grade detergents and oxidizing bleaches to the boil and bleach their way to “clean”.

What you should know about use of hand cleaning techniques by ordinary restoration dry cleaners

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners hardly ever use hand cleaning techniques necessary on many bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories. The excuses include:

  • “it takes too much time and effort”,
  • “we don’t have the hand cleaning skills”, and
  • “the insurance company won’t pay for hand cleaning anyway”.

You should know that the use of these standard approaches are, in many cases, inappropriate

These ozoning, dry cleaning and wet cleaning processes are, in many cases, inappropriate for the delicate fabrics and construction techniques found in today’s designer, high fashion specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories.

You should know that true quality restoration cleaning requires a different approach

At RAVE FabriCARE, we take a different – non-standard – approach: we carefully match the right fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity remediation and cleaning processes to each garment, household textile and accessory.

While dry cleaning and wet cleaning with or without ozone treatment may, on occasion, be appropriate, there is no substitute for the:

  • application of the right smoke, fire, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity remediation process based on the composition (fabric, skin and/or other materials) of a particular garment, household textile or accessory,
  • removal of stains by a skilled stain removal technician prior to dry cleaning or wet cleaning,
  • use of fabric-gentle, dermatologically friendly, crystal clear, odorless, non-dye stripping dry cleaning fluid other than perchloroethylene, synthetic petroleum and formaldehyde dibutyl acetal,
  • use of the finest dry cleaning and wet cleaning detergents and additives on the market today,
  • delicate hand ironing by a skilled hand finishing technician,
  • thorough inspections, and
  • careful packaging.

Today’s bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories require individualized evaluation and treatment.

Not an ozone-them-then-toss-them-into-a-machine-and-hope-for-the-best approach to garment, household textile and accessory “care”.

Standard odor remediation technologies and processes

The overwhelming majority of restoration dry cleaners use 3 methods to treat fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew, humidity and other odors:

  • Smell masking chemicals
  • Thermal deodorization
  • Ozone treatments.

Each of these treatments have their own risks that you should be aware of:

Smell masking chemicals

Masking agents are often used by restoration dry cleaners as the first – and sometimes only – course of action.

The problem with masking agents is three-fold:

  • masking agents are often temporary fixes as the odors that are “covered up” tend to return over time as the masking agents “wear off”
  • masking agents are often oil-based and leave an oily residue on the garments, household textiles and accessories
  • masking agents often contain perfumes, fragrances and potentially toxic chemicals that can trigger physical reactions in sensitive individuals.

Thermal deodorization

Thermal deodorization involves the use of a thermal fogging devise or machine and a deodorization chemical. The thermal fogger vaporizes the deodorization chemical using high heat and then distributes the vapor as a dry fog.

The problem with thermal deodorization is that subjecting fine garments, household textiles and accessories to a heated vapor that’s being propelled from a bazooka-like thermal fogger, can create unnecessary stress on such items.

Ozone treatments

Ozone is an oxidizing agent, a class of chemicals that breaks down organic substances into their base components.

Depending on the source of the research, ozone is either the second or third most powerful oxidant in the world (fluorine is number one).

Ozone gas is the “go to” smoke neutralization treatment for almost every ordinary restoration dry cleaner.

Ozone gas is produced by an ozone generator that converts atmospheric oxygen (O2) into ozone (O3). This ozone gas breaks down/chemically transforms smoke odor molecules embedded in the fibers of your garments, household textiles and accessories into odorless carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor, thereby neutralizing the smoke molecule.

Because ozone is such a powerful oxidant it should never be indiscriminately applied to every garment, household textile and accessory collected by your restoration dry cleaner (for more details see below).

Furthermore, because ozone is such a powerful oxidant, it should only be used as a last resort after all other safer techniques have been exhausted (for more details see below).

Our odor remediation technologies and processes

At RAVE FabriCARE, we employ a wide range of safe odor remediation technologies and processes to ensure the very best achievable results:

Ozone

Ozone, also known as activated oxygen, triatomic oxygen, enhanced oxygen or pure oxygen, is nature’s own air purifier. It’s created by a flash of lightening during a thunderstorm.

Ever wonder why the outdoors smell so fresh and invigorating after a storm?

It’s the natural ozone in the air.

We use this same ozone to eliminate smoke and other odors in certain garments, household textiles and accessories.

We use the term “certain garments, household textiles and accessories” for a reason.

While ozone is useful tool, it should only be used:

  • as a last resort when all other safer techniques have been exhausted (see our discussion on hydroxyl and vaportek below)
  • by trained restoration professionals who constantly monitor the process.
  • by trained restoration professionals in accordance with strict EPA exposure guidelines.

We use the term “last resort” because over exposure to ozone can lead to irreversible oxidation/fading, brittleness/loss of tensile strength and accelerated aging in certain garments, household textiles and accessories.

In those cases where exposure to ozone is both suitable and required, we generate ozone on demand using large high capacity ozone generators (not underpowered “desk top” models) and we only use corona discharge technology (not ultraviolet irradiation technology).

Why?

Because the use of high capacity, corona discharge ozone units allows us to regulate the concentration (measured in parts per million), temperature, relative humidity and exposure time of the ozone treatment.

The ability to control these four variables allows us, in turn, to safely neutralize the smoke odor without damaging the garment, household textile or accessory.

Briefly, here’s how the ozone process works

We generate ozone commercially by pulling atmospheric air that we breathe through an ozone generator. The oxygen molecules in the purified or concentrated air are then subjected to a high voltage, low amperage electrical charge. This electrical charge splits each oxygen molecule (O2) into two free atoms (O1), which, in turn, combine with one un-split oxygen molecule to form ozone (O3), a colorless gas.

When the ozone molecule, a powerful oxidant, comes into contact with a smoke odor molecule embedded in the fibers of your garments, household textiles and accessories, it breaks down/chemically transforms the smoke odor molecule into odorless carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor.

When the ozone gas is extracted from the ozone chamber, the ozone quickly reverts back to ordinary oxygen in about 15 to 20 minutes.

As a powerful oxidizing agent, ozone will also

  • kill germs, bacteria and viruses.Just how effective is ozone as a bactericide and as a virucide? Much more effective than chlorine bleach. And 3000 times faster than chlorine bleach.
  • destroy mold and mildew typically found in water damage situations. Mold and mildew is a fungus that lives on organic matter. Ozone destroys mold and mildew by breaking down the enzymes in organic matter, thus destroying it’s life support system.
  • When ozone comes into contact with water vapor it forms hydrogen peroxide which, in turn, can bleach sensitive fabrics. This is why all garments, household textiles and accessories that are deemed appropriate for ozone treatment must be completely dry before being subject to ozone treatment.

Ozone is an effective odor remediation technique WHEN USED CORRECTLY.

That means that ozone should only as a last resort when all other safer techniques have been exhausted and should never be indiscriminately applied to every garment, household textile and accessory collected by your restoration dry cleaner.

Hydroxyl

Ozone is an effective odor remediation technique for many garments, household textiles and accessories, but, as noted above, it does have severe limitations.

The following is a sampling of items that should not be exposed to ozone gas:

  • Any garment, household textile or accessory that is damp or wet (i.e, not completely dry).
  • Any garment, household textile or accessory comprised of or trimmed with silk, acetate or nylon.
  • Any garment, household textile or accessory comprised of or trimmed with suede, leather and fur.
  • Any garment, household textile or accessory that includes rubber, elastic, spandex/lycra, vinyl or plastic.
  • Any garment, household textile or accessory that includes embroidery.

Hydroxyl is an excellent odor remediation tool to utilize when ozone is potentially damaging to the garment, household textile or accessory.

Briefly, here’s how the hydroxyl process works

Hydroxyls (OH) are safe, naturally occurring molecules that are created in the atmosphere when the sun’s ultraviolet rays react with water vapor. Mother Nature uses hydroxyl molecules to cleanse and decontaminate the atmosphere.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we generate hydroxyls commercially by pulling atmospheric air that we breathe through a hydroxyl generator. The generator combines multiple wavelengths of ultraviolet light with the humidity in the air to create hydroxyls. These hydroxyl molecules then neutralize the odor molecules by breaking down the chemical structure of the odor molecules.

Hydroxyl technology is a green, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly technology that’s exempt from all EPA exposure guidelines. It does not use any chemicals, does not create any toxic by-products and leaves no residue. It merely mimics the earth’s atmospheric cleansing process and brings it into our hydroxyl room.

Hydroxyls will also

  • kill germs, bacteria and viruses.Just how effective is hydroxyl as a bactericide and as a virucide? Much more effective than chlorine bleach. And 3000 times faster than chlorine bleach.
  • destroy mold and mildew typically found in water damage situations.Mold and mildew is a fungus that lives on organic matter such as bacteria and other micro-organisms. Hydroxyl destroys mold and mildew by destroying the bacteria and micro-organisms that feed the mold. As a result, the mold and/or mildew dies.

Vaportek

Vaportek is another useful odor remediation tool in our arsenal of tools.

Vaportek produces a green, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, dry vapor to permanently neutralize organic odors in garments, household textiles and accessories.

Vaportek is safe on all types of materials and is particularly effective on any materials that are porous.

Summary

Let’s briefly review each of these 13 steps in greater depth…

Air drying

At RAVE FabriCARE, we air dry all water-saturated garments, household textiles and accessories in a specialized dry room, using multiple fans to circulate the air evenly throughout the room.

We never machine dry. Even if the item is required for emergency use.

Odor remediation

We neutralize all odors using technologies tailored to each individual garment, household textile or accessory.

These odor remediation technologies include ozone, hydroxyl and vaportek as well as other proprietary techniques that we have developed over the years.

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we do not add perfumes, fragrances, smell masking chemicals to our dry cleaning, wet cleaning and other restorative processes in order to “bypass” or “shortcut” the odor remediation process.

The problem with masking agents is that the odor will soon return – within months after your insurance company has paid the “restoration dry cleaner”. Then you’re stuck with the out-of- pocket expense associated with re-restoring your garments, household textiles and accessories.

Fact is, we’re so confident that our odor remediation processes are effective that we guarantee that all odors in your fine garments, household textiles and accessories will be removed.

Garment preparation

Garments entering any dry cleaning facility must be uniquely identified so that ownership of every garment is clear.

Most restoration dry cleaners do this in some fashion or another.

But it’s quite common for some restoration dry cleaners not to tag any or some items. Many feel that they can “keep the order together”, thereby eliminating this labor intensive task.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we just don’t buy the notion that’s it’s possible to “keep the order together”, given that, after deodorizing, your garments, household textiles and accessories are distributed to different, specialized departments within our facility for cleaning and finishing.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we’re a little old fashioned. We prefer to tag every item with a unique identification number, thereby protecting the security of your belongings.

And, unlike ordinary dry cleaners and ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we’d never glue or heat seal a bar code label onto any of your fine garments, household textiles and accessories – an idea that originated in the uniform rental industry where the cleaning, steaming, packaging and distribution of uniforms is almost entirely automated.

And why don’t we glue bar or heat seal code labels onto your possessions?

Because, unlike ordinary dry cleaners and restoration dry cleaners, we don’t treat your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories like they’re part of a UPS, FedEx or USPS uniform.

We’ll leave that heresy to the ordinary restoration dry cleaners.

At the ordinary restoration cleaners, your garments are now dispatched for “cleaning”.

What should happen, instead, is that every garment should be carefully reviewed prior to cleaning for issues that are unique to that particular garment prior to cleaning. These issues include fabric, color, trims, soil and staining, overall condition and age.

Professional stain removal

At RAVE FabriCARE, we perform extensive stain removal and cleaning procedures on every garment and household textile. Often using a multi-stage processes involving dry cleaning, soaking in dry cleaning fluid and aqueous solutions, wet cleaning, hand washing and/or other restoration techniques. Even if that means taking the time to treat the same garment multiple times until the stain is removed or significantly reduced in it’s intensity.

Contrast this to ordinary restoration dry cleaners where the stain removal process is skipped entirely.Where stain removal consists of loading and unloading a dry cleaning or wet cleaning machine and hoping that the stains will miraculously disappear during tumbling. And where even the most simple of stains receive one of those “sorry-we-tried-but-we-couldn’t tags”.

Proprietary dry cleaning fluid

RAVE FabriCARE is the only restoration dry cleaner in Arizona licensed to use a proprietary dry cleaning process utilized by fewer that 5% of all dry cleaners in North America.

Our dry cleaning fluid is…

Completely odorless: No solvent smell or perfume or fragrance smell ever.

Dermatologically-friendly: So gentle it’s used as a base ingredient in many personal care products you apply to your skin every day. Products such as shampoos, deodorants, antiperspirants and moisturizing creams. So gentle that you can (legally) wash your hands or face in it. Now try that with any other dry cleaning solvent on the market today. Your local hospital’s emergency room personnel are standing by.

Chemically inert: Meaning that our dry cleaning fluid wont bleed your dyes or fade your colors.

Environmentally benign: RAVE FabriCARE is the only restoration dry cleaner in Arizona exempt from all federal, state and local regulations governing the delivery, storage, use and disposal of dry cleaning solvents. Contrast this to all other restoration dry cleaners in Arizona who use relatively aggressive, strictly regulated dry cleaning solvents such as perchlorethylene (a chlorinated solvent), synthetic petroleum, (a hydrocarbon solvent) and formaldehyde dibutyl acetal (a formadehyde solvent).

Odorless. Dermatologically friendly. Extremely gentle. Chemically inert. Environmentally benign.

Just 5 reasons why our dry cleaning fluid is perfectly compatible with the delicate nature of your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, hi-fashion, specialty and couture garments and household textiles. As well as your fine business and casual attire.

Dry cleaning fluid purity

At RAVE FabriCARE, we continually purify (or “distill”) and continually filter our dry cleaning fluid before and after every load.

As a result, every garment and household textile is cleaned in dry cleaning fluid that’s crystal clear. As clear as bottled mountain spring water.

It’s your only guarantee against grayish and dingy whites, creams and pastels; dull and faded colors; and that all too familiar “dry cleaning solvent smell”.

Truth is, we know of no restoration dry cleaner in Arizona that continuously purifies every single drop of their dry cleaning solvent before and after each load. And filters every single drop of their dry cleaning solvent during each load.

To do otherwise is just like washing your clothes in a home washer and using the same dirty water over and over again. No, it’s more like washing your clothes at home using the effluent from your dishwasher.

Sanitone® dry cleaning chemistry

At RAVE FabriCARE, we only use top-of-the-line Sanitone ® dry cleaning detergents and additives.

Fact is, RAVE FabriCARE is the only restoration dry cleaner in Arizona licensed by Fabritec International to use Sanitone ® products. We have been a Sanitone ® licensee for over 25 years.

By contrast, many ordinary restoration dry cleaners use the cheapest possible dry cleaning detergents. And when the pressure on the prices they can charge increases – as they are apt to do when they use the insurance company-mandated Xactimate pricing model – many eliminate the use of dry cleaning detergents completely.

Zero moisture

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we never add or inject moisture into our dry cleaning solvent. Nor do we load garments and household textiles into our dry cleaning machines that are not completely dry.

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners rationalize the addition or injection of moisture into their dry cleaning solvents thus…

We know that dry cleaning solvents can emulsify or dissolve oil-based stains such as salad dressing, butter, steak sauce, body oils and topical creams and lotions.

We also know that moisture is necessary to remove water-based stains such as soda, juice, wine, beer and perspiration.

So why don’t we just add or inject moisture into our dry cleaning solvent during the “wash” cycle. This way we’ll kill two birds with one stone: the dry cleaning solvent will “take care” of the oil-based stains and the moisture will “take care” of the water-based stains.

Voila! Problem solved.

With absolutely no investment of time, effort and skill.

Unfortunately for ordinary restoration dry cleaners, adding or injecting moisture has consequences:

First, it doesn’t work.

Doesn’t work because the dry cleaning doesn’t remove water-based stains (irrespective of the amount of moisture added), because the heat of the dry cleaning machines “dry” cycle might permanently set the water-based stains and because your garments will still smell of perspiration if the cause of the perspiration odor is not removed prior to dry cleaning.

Second, it’s reckless.

Reckless because wools might shrink and water-soluble dyes on “dry clean only” garments and household textiles could bleed.

Zero fragrance, perfume or smell masking chemicals

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we never add or inject perfumes, fragrances or other smell masking chemicals to our dry cleaning fluid to “disguise” any smoke odors that haven’t been neutralized or to disguise the fact that the dry cleaning solvent used to clean your garments and household textiles has not been continuously purified.

And the reason?

Proper odor remediation techniques means no odor prior to dry cleaning.

And no odor prior to dry cleaning means no need for perfumes, fragrances and other smell masking chemicals.

Proper dry cleaning fluid purification techniques means dry cleaning fluid that’s as crystal clear as bottled mountain spring water.

And crystal clear dry cleaning fluid means no need for perfumes, fragrances and other smell masking chemicals.

Zero sizing

Sizing is to dry cleaning what starch is to shirt laundry.

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we never add or inject sizing into our dry cleaning machines.

This way your fine wools and silks won’t feel and drape like cardboard.

And why do ordinary restoration dry cleaners like sizing?

Because the stiffer the garment or household textile, the quicker it is to machine press.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we do occasionally use sizing. But sizing is only applied to cotton and linen garments during the hand finishing stage. And then only if you specifically requested sizing and only according to your requested sizing level.

Like your cottons and linens smooth with no crispness? Smooth with light crispness? Like your heavier fabric linens smooth with no crispness, and your lighter fabric linens smooth with light crispness?

That’s what we mean by personal preference.

Operational excellence

At RAVE FabriCARE, you can count on lighter loads, strict classifications, zero moisture, zero odor masking agents, zero sizing, longer cleaning cycles and lower drying temperatures.

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners….

  • We don’t mix garments and household textiles of different color classification.
  • We don’t mix regular and fragile garments and household textiles.
  • We don’t overload our machines.
  • We don’t add or inject moisture into our dry cleaning fluid.
  • We don’t add or inject perfume, fragrance and other smell masking chemicals into our dry cleaning fluid.
  • We don’t reduce our wash cycle times.
  • We don’t increase our dry cycle temperatures.

All of which produces the fastest, cheapest and worst restoration dry cleaning. What the dry cleaning industry calls “bang and hang cleaning”, “tumble and fumble cleaning”, “clean and steam cleaning”, or “boil, bleach and bake cleaning”.

Meticulous garment finishing

The highest standards of garment and household textile finishing can tolerate no compromises and shortcuts.

Which is why our skilled finishers delicately hand iron every garment and household textile. Both inside and out. The old fashioned way. Using a hand iron. No matter how long it might take.

It goes without saying that, at RAVE FabriCARE, you won’t find those common “bang an hang” machine pressing practices that’s the hallmark of restoration dry cleaners: crushed nap; shine; seam, flap and button impressions; moire-like press pad impressions; double creases; twisted interior seams; wrinkled linings; and other “crimes of fashion”.

All of which could lead an insured to claim that “my restoration dry cleaner ruined my bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, hi-fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories.

“Pressing” or “steaming”, as practiced by ordinary restoration dry cleaners, is such a poor descriptor of the art of finishing.

Of course, a skilled finisher must know how to apply pressure to achieve a smooth finish on a cotton or linen. But a smooth, soft hand finish that minimizes the possibility of shine or seam, flap and button impressions, best defines the finest professional finishing.

Personalized inspections

At RAVE FabriCARE, our full time, trained inspectors are uncompromising in their attention to detail.

They carefully examine every garment and household textile – from inside to outside, from top to bottom – to ensure that our high quality standards have been met. Including odor removal, stain removal, cleaning, finishing and repairs.

They are also responsible for ensuring that we’ve addressed all your personal preferences and special instructions.

Exquisite packaging

At RAVE FabriCARE, your garments and household textiles are individually and elegantly packaged using only premium materials such as heavy duty clip and contoured hangers; soft, white acid-free tissue; and extra wide, heavy gauge poly.

Individual packaging, using the finest quality materials, ensures that your fine garments and household textiles are protected during storage and transportation to your home. And that they are ready to be worn by you. Without having to be refinished, at home or on the road.

Summary

There you have it. A summary of our restoration dry cleaning process.

It’s what sets us apart from all other restoration dry cleaners in Arizona. And it’s why no other restoration dry cleaner comes close to matching our quality standards and our results.

Overview of our restoration wet cleaning process

Wet cleaning is a general term that wholly or partially involves the use of water and wet-side chemicals to remove soil and stains from garments and household textiles.

Wet cleaning may be used to:

  • Remove new, water-based stains that cannot be removed with dry-side chemical agents and dry cleaning solvents or fluids.
  • Remove old, caramelized and and oxidized yellow and brown stains that cannot be removed with dry-side chemical agents and dry cleaning solvents or fluids.
  • Clean garments and household textiles that should not be dry cleaned due to their fragility, construction, finishes, dyes, trims, embellishments, and the like.

The overall condition of the garment or household textile, including the nature and age of the soil and stains, will dictate the exact sequence of the processes to be used.

Wet cleaning includes the use of the following techniques

  • Soaking in special tubs
  • Hand washing in special tubs
  • Soaking followed by hand washing or hand washing followed by soaking
  • Tumbling in sophisticated wet cleaning machines.

All our restoration processes are green, non-toxic and environmentally friendly

At RAVE FabriCARE, we only employ green, non-toxic, environmentally friendly dry cleaning (siloxane), wet cleaning and odor remediation (ozone, hydroxyl and vaportek) processes to care for your fine garments, household textiles and accessories.

For further details, please read the preceding discussions.

Our restoration equipment and customized facilities

RAVE FabriCARE owns the necessary equipment and facilities to restore your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories to their pre-disaster condition.

Or even original or near-original condition.

All our work – including all leather, suede and fur garments and handbags, purses, backpacks, wallets, shoes, boots and belts – is performed in-house in our 11,000 square foot facility under the supervision of management and staff who routinely produce some of the most respected cleaning services in the nation.

Fact is, our facility was selected as one of the top fabricare facilities in the nation by the editors of American Drycleaner Magazine.

Contrast this to most ordinary restoration dry cleaners who typically subcontract out garments, household textiles and accessories that

  • involve anything other than “regular” garments and household textiles – garments and household textiles that require something other than standard ozone treatments and “washing” in a dry cleaning or wet cleaning machine
  • involve beads, sequins or rhinestones; plastic, vinyl or rubber; paint, glitter or silkscreen; and suede, leather or fur
  • involve handbags, purses, backpacks, wallets, shoes, boots, sneakers and belts.

When you’re considering entrusting your fine garments, household textiles to a restoration dry cleaner, we suggest that you visit their facilities and request a tour of their operations.

Look around.

Survey their physical plant and equipment.

Question them about their odor remediation, cleaning, finishing, inspecting and packaging processes.

Observe their “cleaners” and “pressers” in action.

Identify the degree to which you see any bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories in the facility.

Examine the quality of the work they produce (if you are presented with “showcased” examples of their work, ignore those examples and make your own random selection).

Then pay a visit RAVE FabriCARE and compare. We think you’d find the difference illuminating.

For your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories, you need a true quality restoration dry cleaner you can trust.

And you can trust RAVE FabriCARE — the dry cleaner trusted by more upscale department stores, clothing boutiques, custom clothiers, bridal salons, fine linen stores, and handbag and shoe salons in Arizona and elsewhere than all other dry cleaners and restoration dry cleaners combined.

Our guarantee

At RAVE FabriCARE, we’re so confident that our odor remediation and cleaning technologies and processes are effective that we’ll provide you with an unconditional guarantee:

On every restoration project, we’ll completely eliminate all smoke- and water-related stains from every garment, household textile and accessory. Or we’ll do it over to your complete satisfaction. Promptly and courteously.

And if you’re still not satisfied, we won’t bill you or your insurance company for that item.”

How can we offer such a guarantee?

For 4 reasons:

Multiple odor remediation technologies and processes

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners typically rely on one deodorization process — ozone.

The problem with this approach is that there needs to be many more tools in the restoration dry cleaner’s toolbox than ozone alone.

RAVE FabriCARE has a range of remediation technologies and processes – some of which have been developed by us over a period of years – to produce the best achievable results.

Controlled deodorization (concentration, temperature, relative humidity, duration)

Ordinary restoration dry cleaners deodorize their smoke and water contaminated garments, household textiles and accessories using ozone for about about 12 hours.

The problem with this approach is that the specific deodorization treatment – be it hydroxyl, vaportek or, as a last resort, ozone gas – should be tailored to the specific garment, household textile or accessory.

At RAVE FabriCARE, our restoration personnel know how to tailor the deodorization process to each specific garment, household textile and accessory and know how to control the deodorization process for optimum results.

Odor removal prior to cleaning

When your garments, household textiles and accessories arrive at our facility, they’re first hung dried in a specialized dry room and then transferred to one of our odor remediation rooms for deodorization.

Unlike ordinary restoration dry cleaners, we never rely solely on the “smell test” to determine which items should be deodorized and which items can bypass the process.

Why?

For two reasons:

First, fire creates two types of smoke damage – invisible odor and visible soot. And both types of smoke damage must be treated.

Second, smoke is comprised primarily of water, carbon dioxide, sulfuric acid, carbon and other materials that haven’t been completely combusted. And all these products and by-products must be completely neutralized prior to dry cleaning, wet cleaning and/or hand cleaning.

No smell masking chemicals

At RAVE FabriCARE, we don’t use any smell masking chemicals (perfumes, fragrances, odor control products, etc.) that, to quote one chemical manufacturer’s literature, “neutralizes and removes smoke odor from fire damaged clothing and household items in either dry cleaning or wet cleaning without deodorization.”

Why?

  • Because many individuals are sensitive to perfumes and fragrances.
  • Because the smell of these smell masking chemicals can be even more noxious than the lingering, acrid, diffuse odor of smoke and soot and the dank, musty, moldy odor of high humidity.
  • Because the odor will return as soon as the smell masking chemical dissipates – probably just after your insurance company paid the “restoration dry cleaner”.

This “no exceptions to deodorization” approach applies to all items to be dry cleaned, wet cleaned and/or hand cleaned.

Furthermore, many ordinary restoration dry cleaners mistakenly believe that garments and household textiles that can be wet cleaned (or “washed”) don’t require deodorization. Their approach can be summed up as “just toss ’em in the washer and hope for the best”.

Our experience tells us otherwise.

That’s because, without prior deodorization treatment some garments and household textiles may have to be wet cleaned up to five times in order to completely eliminate every trace of odor. And this can negatively impact the life of those items.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we guarantee that every item removed from your home will be deodorized.

No smell tests. No exceptions.

After all, we’ve got an unconditional guarantee to live up to.

Other odor problems

In addition to smoke-, fire- and water-related issues, there are numerous additional causes that may result in odor damage to your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we have successfully removed noxious odors and/or contamination from cigarettes, cigars, cooking, pets, dead animals, off-gassing (carpet, paint, furniture, etc.), scented candles, urine, rotting garbage, humidity/mustiness and body odors.

For fine garments, household textiles and accessories that have been contaminated by sewerage, we have to access each disaster situation in order to determine whether restoration is feasible and/or achievable.

We also restore garments and household textiles that have an unpleasant odors as a result of having been dry cleaned in dirty dry cleaning solvent by ordinary dry cleaners or restoration dry cleaners.

If your garments and household textile come back from the dry cleaner or restoration dry cleaner smelling like the effluent from your dishwater, tell your insurance adjuster that you want everything re-cleaned by RAVE FabriCARE.

What you can expect from us

At RAVE FabriCARE, all our odor remediation and dry cleaning and wet cleaning restoration technologies and processes are designed to deliver:

  • Garments that are exceptionally clean.
  • Spectacularly bright whites, creams and pastels.
  • Colors that are rich and lustrous, without that “washed out”, faded look.
  • Renewed, revitalized fabric textures.
  • The softest, silkiest fabric feel, even on heavy cotton sweaters.
  • Garments that are meticulously finished. Inside and out. By hand. Not by machine.
  • Garments that are carefully and thoroughly inspected. From top to bottom. From inside to outside.
  • Garments that are individually and elegantly packaged.
  • And, of course, absolutely no odors – odors from smoke, dry cleaning solvents, chemical agents, fragrance, perfume or odor masking products. Ever.

Written quality standards

True quality restoration cleaning.

Every ordinary restoration dry cleaner talks about it. Every ordinary restoration dry cleaner promises it. And every ordinary restoration dry cleaner claims to meet or exceed the “highest industry standards”.

But when you ask what those standards are, you’re typically met with a blank stare.

Bottom line: ordinary restoration dry cleaners pay mere lip service to true quality.

After all, how can they possibly deliver true quality restoration deodorization and cleaning if

  • their entire restoration business model is based on serving the vast middle market, a market that demands fast turnaround and low prices.
  • their entire restoration business model is based on serving the insurance adjuster, who similarly demands fast turnaround and low prices.

In other words, in order for their business model of fast turnaround and low prices to work, they must

  • accelerate the number of pieces or units passing through their production system.
  • significantly reduce or even eliminate any investment in technical fabricare knowledge, stain removal skills, fabric-gentle cleaning processes, hand ironing craftsmanship and thorough inspections – an investment that, by definition, is required to care for bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we’re very different.

We put our quality standards in writing. And in detail. For everyone to see. It’s how we hold our fabricare associates accountable. And how our clients hold us accountable. On every restoration job. On every item in that job.

So before you select a true quality restoration dry cleaner (or, more likely, before your insurance adjuster or your restoration contractor “selects” a restoration dry cleaner for you), ask the restoration dry cleaner for a detailed list of their dry cleaning and shirt laundry quality standards.

You might find their response instructive.

Service throughout Arizona

RAVE FabriCARE offers smoke, fire and water restoration services throughout Arizona.

If you’re a homeowner with a significant investment in your bespoke, made-to-measure, designer, high fashion, specialty and couture garments, household textiles and accessories and you live outside of the metro Phoenix area  (more than 30 miles from our Scottsdale location as determined by Google Maps), please consider this….

The added transportation costs associated with selecting RAVE FabriCARE will be relatively small compared to the total cost of replacing your fine garments, household textiles and accessories that have not been carefully restored to pre-disaster condition.

Say you live in Tucson, Sedona, Flagstaff or Prescott and you experience a smoke, fire and/or water disaster situation. You call your insurance company and the insurance adjuster or restoration contractor “directs” you to their "preferred" restoration dry cleaner.

If you have a significant investment in fine garments, household textiles and accessories, it’s highly unlikely that an ordinary restoration dry cleaner in any of those towns will have the in-house, technical skills and experience or the specialized facilities necessary to carefully restore your fine garments, household textiles and accessories to pre-disaster condition.

Write your own anti-anxiety prescription by calling us.

We’re just a 2 to 4 hour drive away.

Travel costs

As mentioned above, we do not charge for travel if the distance from our Scottsdale facility to your home is less than 30 miles as determined by Google Maps.

If we travel beyond the 30 mile limit, we do charge for mileage and time.

Mileage

We charge for mileage in both directions based on the AAA composite average rate for large sedans traveling 15,000 miles per year. The current (2022) rate is 69.1 cents/mile.

The distance in miles, as determined by Google Maps, is based on a 2 way trip.

Time

We charge for time in both directions based on travel time determined by Google Maps. Time is rounded up to the closest hour. The rate of $25.00 per person. The minimum crew is 2 persons.

Mileage and time assessed on all trips

We assess the mileage and time charge for all trips in excess of 30 miles from our facility. These trips include evaluation/survey, pack out and delivery.

We will waive the mileage and time charges for the first evaluation/survey trip if

  • RAVE FabriCARE is engaged to undertake all the restoration work of your fine garments, household textiles and accessories, and
  • the total billings for the restoration of your fine garments, household textiles and accessories exceeds $10,000.

Weekend pack outs

When fine garments, household textiles and accessories are exposed to water, there is a distinct possibility that dyes can bleed, that dyes can transfer to other items in close physical contact, and that mold and/or mildew can form (typically within 48 to 72 hours).

In such cases, it’s important to act fast.

Which is why RAVE FabriCARE offers weekend packout service.

There is no additional charge for this weekend service if you’re located in the metro Phoenix area (defined as a 30 mile radius from our location in Scottsdale).

Experienced on-site crew

At RAVE FabriCARE, we recognize the magnitude of the physical and emotional disruption that can accompany a disaster. We understand that recovery can be stressful, even traumatic.

That’s why each team dispatched to an insured’s home includes a Team Leader with extensive restoration experience as well as uniformed team members who are properly trained and will execute their functions in a sensitive, caring manner.

For security purposes, our team will arrive in clearly identified RAVE FabriCARE vehicles.

After a preliminary evaluation, the Team Leader will communicate with you and your insurance adjuster, if any, to address any questions and concerns.

At this trying time, you can count on RAVE FabriCARE for understanding, attention and caring – from your very first contact with us to the follow up months after we have returned the last of your fine garments, household textiles and accessories.

Emergency orders

After the initial trauma of dealing with a fire and/or water disaster subsides, you’ll probably need some garments and accessories to get through the next week.

RAVE FabriCARE can deliver rush orders in as little as 24 hours, with guaranteed delivery in 48 hours.

Typically, there is no additional charge for this service if you’re located in the metro Phoenix area (defined as less than 30 miles from our Scottsdale location as determined by Google Maps).

If you are located outside of the metro Phoenix area (defined as more than 40 miles from our Scottsdale location as determined by Google Maps) and require delivery of a small emergency order, we can always arrange to ship your emergency orders to you by United States Post Office Priority Mail or United Parcel Service Next Day or 2 Day Service at relatively low cost to you.

And don’t worry about the the packing and shipping.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we know packing and shipping of fine garments, household textiles and accessories.

After all, we’ve been cleaning, hand finishing and shipping garments, household textiles and accessories throughout the USA and Canada for over 25 years.

Seamless integration with your restoration contractor

In most disaster situations, you’ll probably retain the services of a restoration contractor to remove water from your home, dehumidify and deodorize the structure and restore the interior and exterior to original condition.

You can count on RAVE FabriCARE to work closely with your restoration contractor to endure the seamless integration of all our tasks.

Our objective is to remove all garments, household textiles and accessories that have been contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity with a minimum of inconvenience to you, your household and your restoration contractor. And then to return those items with even less fuss.

Communication is the key. Because a claim that starts right tends to end right.

No cherry picking

Unlike many restoration dry cleaners, we don’t cherry pick your garments, household textiles and accessories by determining which items are the easiest to restore. And declaring the rest a total loss.

Which is why, at RAVE FabriCARE, we don’t grade garments, household textiles and accessories on site. Instead, we remove all garments, household textiles and accessories from your home, except for those items that are clearly burnt and/or melted.

Upon arrival at our fabricare facility, every garment, household textile and accessory is evaluated by our restoration specialists and an appropriate odor remediation and dry-, wet- and/or hand-cleaning regimen for each item is formulated.

In order to ensure maximum recovery, we’ll never refuse to clean any item because of odor and/or soiling, even if we initially suspect that a particular garment, household textile or accessory might not be salvageable.

If any garment, household textile or accessory exhibits pre-disaster damage (such as shine, seam impressions, snags, yarn slippage, tears, open seams, fabric deterioration, moth holes or other moth damage, missing buttons, missing or loose trim, etc.), we’ll document such pre-disaster damage on the original invoice for that item or group of items.

Non-salvageable items

At RAVE FabriCARE, our objective is maximum recovery. That’s why we remove all garments, household textiles and accessories contaminated by fire, smoke, soot, water, mold, mildew and/or humidity from your home and don’t grade them on-site.

It’s been our experience that many items initially thought to be a total loss can, in fact, be fully restored – with the right skills, expertise, experience, procedures, processes, technologies and equipment.

Of course, there will inevitably be some items that, despite our best efforts, cannot be restored: items charred by fire, yellowed by heat, ripped, torn or otherwise physically damaged.

What happens to those items that cannot be restored to pre-disaster condition?

We”ll return those items to you in the presence of your insurance adjuster. We’ll discuss each item with the adjuster and provide a full explanation as to why, in our professional opinion, that item could not be successfully restored.

At RAVE FabriCARE, we don’t charge for garments, household textiles and accessories that could not be restored to pre-disaster condition.

As we always tell our high value homeowner clients: Don’t give up. You’ll be surprised what we can do.

Detailed inventory and itemized billing

At this time of crisis, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to recall all the items removed from your home by your restoration dry cleaner.

Nor should you have to.

When we arrive on site, we’ll:

  • Assess the nature of the damage (room by room).
  • Establish an inventory of each item to be removed from the residence (room by room).
  • This inventory will identify the garment, household textile or accessory type (such as dress, blanket, handbag, etc.), color (such as navy, gray, white, etc.) and brand (such as Brioni, Sferra, Louis Vuitton, etc.).
  • Photograph each item to be removed from the residence (room by room).
  • Link each item on the inventory report to the photograph of the item.

Before we leave your home with your garments, household textiles and accessories, we’ll email the inventory report and a photograph of each item to you and your insurance adjuster.

When we return to our facility, we’ll price each item on the inventory report and generate a total project cost.

We typically complete the pricing within 72 hours of the arrival of your garments, household textiles and accessories at our facility.

With the inventory report completed (all items described, photographed and priced), we’ll obtain the necessary written authorization from your insurance company to proceed with the work.

Direct billing

In all cases where your disaster is covered by your home owner’s insurance policy, we’ll bill your insurance company directly.

For losses that are completely covered by your insurance company, your only personal cost is your deductible.

For losses that are not completely covered by your insurance company, your personal cost is

  • your deductible
  • the amount by which the losses exceed the total dollar limits on your policy
  • the total amount of the loss where you do not wish to involve your insurance company.

In other words, RAVE FabriCARE is paid by either the insurance company or the insured or both.

RAVE FabriCARE will not commence the restoration process on any garment, household textile or accessory until the following documents have been signed and delivered to RAVE FabriCARE:

  • Disaster Response Agreement
  • Personal Guarantee
  • Payment Authorization Agreement.

The Disaster Response Agreement, amongst other things, captures some personal information about the insured, identifies the nature of the services to be provided, provides a mechanism for resolving disputes, and directs the insurance company to pay us directly for services rendered and billed to them.

The Personal Guarantee indicates that you understand that you are personally responsible for the deductible and personally responsible for all charges and costs not covered by your insurance policy and/or not paid by your insurance company.

The Payment Authorization Agreement authorizes RAVE FabriCARE to charge your personal credit card or personal bank account for all charges and costs that are not covered by your insurance company and/or not paid by your insurance company.

For corporate entities that are insured or self insured, we assess each situation to determine the need for a Disaster Response Agreement, Personal Guarantee and/or a Payment Authorization Agreement.

Please note…

In the event these 3 documents are not signed and delivered to RAVE FabriCARE, you will be charged for all services rendered to that point, such as:

  • our documentation services at the rates identified in the Disaster Site Documentation Experience section above
  • for the travel costs at the rates identified in the Service throughout Arizona section above .

Full payment for our documentation services and travel costs must be received before your unprocessed garments, household textiles and accessories are returned/delivered to you.

Fully insured and bonded

All your fine garments, household textiles and accessories removed from your home and transferred to our facility are protected by our insurance coverage, including bailees insurance.

What does the mean for you?

It means that every item is fully insured against theft from our facility or vehicles or damage from flood or fire in our facility or vehicles.

In other words, your fine garments, household textiles and accessories are protected from the moment they are removed from your home to the moment they are returned to you.

And because each garment, household textile and accessory has been individually described, photographed and priced, all the necessary information exists to assure accurate recovery.

As an added security our entire facility is alarmed, monitored 24/7 by security and fully sprinklered in accordance with the City of Scottsdale’s stringent fire code.

A copy of our Certificate of Insurance is available for inspection by you or your insurance adjuster.

Free, limited time, on-premises storage

RAVE FabriCARE provides secured, on-premises storage for all your fine garments, household textiles and accessories for up to 90 days from the date we remove those items from your home (“packout date”).

Absolutely free.

It’s been our experience that most clients are ready to take delivery of their garments, household textiles and accessories within this 90 day period.

And, if you can’t take delivery within that 90 day period, don’t worry. We’ll store your garments, household textiles and accessories for up to 6 months and we’ll discount our normal storage rates by up to 60%.

The size of this discount increases on a sliding scale based on the total billings for the restoration project. The higher the total billing on the project, the higher the discount.

If we’re storing your garments, household textiles and accessories for a period longer than 90 days from the packout date, your storage fees will be billed on a monthly basis to a credit card on file. The first monthly bill you receive will be prorated.

For example, the packout took place on March 20. Storage is free from March 20 to June 20. On June 30, we’ll charge your credit card for storage for the period June 20 to June 30. Thereafter, we’ll charge your credit card for storage on the last day of each month.

"I send all my custom bespoke suits once a year to freshen them up. One 100% wool suit jacket had accidentally been put into a washing machine (blasphemy!) and they managed to restore it to a point that my tailor could not tell that it had been previously washed until she inspected the inner lining. They make magic at this place. Pricey, but worth it."
